Sunday School at Ascension is from 9:45am-10:45am each week, September through May, for 3-year olds through adults. Rally Day is the first Sunday after Labor Day.
Believing that faith is caught more than it is taught and that relationships are fundamental to passing on faith, we strive to provide an environment where faith-filled relationships are formed. We carefully choose curriculum that is consistent with our Lutheran heritage, is age appropriate in its stories and activities, and has ideas for families to use at home, which is the primary place where faith is formed.
Children in preschool-4th grade meet in classrooms and learn about a different Bible story each week. Youth in 5th-8th grades use a devotional book, Long Story Short, which is based on Bible stories as the basis for their weekly lesson. And 9th-12th graders are using the re:form Ancestors curriculum, applying life lessons from various people in the Bible. Adult Sunday School is using the Animate curriculum. They watch a short video and have discussion around topics such as faith, the Bible, and spiritual practices. Each Sunday we have a worship time in which adult guides and children in preschool-6th grade meet in the fellowship hall for a short time of music, offering, prayers, and announcements.
Talk to Heather Kepner if you have children to enroll in Sunday school or if you are interested in helping with Sunday school. Adults and older youth are encouraged to volunteer as guides or teachers for the younger classes. Sign up using the link below.
