The WAVE at Ascension is a Wednesday after-school program open to all 1st through 5th grade children. The purpose of this program is to help build children’s faith through personal, trusted relationships with caring, Christian adults. Activities include snack time, lessons, fun and games, and free time. The program is held each Wednesday from 2:30-5:15 p.m. during the school year.
What does The WAVE mean? The WAVE stands for Wednesdays Are Very Exciting– and they are! We have a great time. The WAVE also reminds us of water, and water reminds us of our baptism. We talk a lot about baptism and what it means to be a child of God. And we have fun all along the way!
Some particulars of the program: · Every Wednesday afternoon, we provide transportation for children to the church from their school. Please contact the church office by 12:00 p.m. Wednesday if your child will not be coming on a particular day. · Since children learn in different ways, the WAVE is filled with variety to appeal to children’s many learning styles. Children will participate in several learning centers involving active games, art activities, cooking, a Bible story center, movies, computer, and science. · A snack is provided each Wednesday for everyone who participates in The WAVE, so your hungry child will be fed. · It takes many hands to keep the WAVE rolling in each week. Volunteers from middle school through adult are needed and wanted.
