Small Groups provide members with an opportunity to build relationships around caring, learning, fellowship, and support. These relationships allow for deeper sharing of faith and other life issues.
There are many small groups already going at Ascension, and anyone can start a small group – after a short training session. These groups of 8-12 people may be formed around similar interests, ages, families, etc. All groups will have a leader and meet regularly. All small groups are centered around the 4 keys – devotions, service, caring conversation, rituals and traditions. Each group will have their own unique vision and purpose for meeting, but all will be based around Christ, the mission of the Church, and prayer.
Examples of Small Groups at Ascension include: Grace & Gifts Home Communion and Visitation; Sunday Night Live for families; Quilters; and Eve's Exercisers.
If you are interested in joining a small group, becoming a small group leader, or have an idea for a small group, contact Pastor Steve.

Knitting & Crocheting Small Group - Nancy Nelson
If you like to knit caps and other things, please consider joining the Knitting and Crocheting group which meets the third Tuesday of each month, except for December, at 7:00pm at Ascension. Since our small group started in 2012, we have donated over 300 handmade scarves, blankets, mittens, hats and other items to local agencies and individuals. Our mission is simply to give our handmade items to others to let them know someone is thinking of them.
Communion Stewards - Jean Josephson
This group is responsible for preparing Communion for services and for filling home Communion kits. Members are responsible for a month at a time, often teaming up with another person or couple. The Stewards gather for a potluck meal twice a year.
Mary & Martha Small Group - Lori Bjorklund
A casual, comfortable group of women who care deeply for each other.
Rebekah Book Group - Kathy Reid
We read several books during the year and discuss them at our meetings. We usually choose religion themed books.
Eve’s Exercisers - Elaine Rietz
Eve’s Exercisers is a small group of senior women who exercise twice a week for about 45 minutes each time. All are welcome!
